Amateur Power: The first-ever Central Oregon Amateur Championship

Seventy-two players enjoyed perfect playing conditions and amazing course amenities at Pine Nursery for Bend’s newest event: the Central Oregon Amateur Championship on June 20. 

The COACH was the first of its kind in Central Oregon: an amateur-only B-Tier. Tournament director Sharon Jenkins brought out all the stops: drinks and snacks at pop-up tents throughout the course, plus raffles, games and prizes. 

Lunch was provided by Nik Skrak of Nik’Snacks.

Winners included Fenton Flanagan (MA1), Daniel Gonzalez (MA40), Allen Heinly (MA50), Steven Segura (MA55), Gregg Davis (MA60), Douglas Tschantre (MA65), Dave Linger (MA70), Kyle Craine (MA2), Erin Forney (FA2), and Sam Lindskoog (MJ18). 

“Turnout exceeded all expectations,” Sharon said. “We hope to host this event here again next year.”

Erin Forney of Bend won the FA2 division in a playoff over Adena Glassow.
